Celebrating International Women's Day
Last Friday I attended the West Coast Leaf's 22nd Annual Equality Breakfast in celebration of International Women's Day. It is one of my favorite events. Approximately 1000 women (and some men) attended this fundraiser at 7:00 YES! AM!! to network and power coffee with some very interesting women. This year's keynote speaker was Mary Walsh who created the award-winning series "This Hour Has 22 Minutes". Unfortunately, Mary was unable to make it and Helen Shaver a 58 year old Canadian actress filled in for her. Not quite the talk we all expected, but how generous it was for Helen to step up to the plate at the last minute. I sat at a most interesting table with Ruth Lea Taylor and Louisa Morris, both lawyers practising family law. As well, I met other new and old firends that I had a few moments to visit with.
