Equality Breakfast

March 12th, 2008
The West Coast Leaf's (Women's Legal Education & Action Fund) Equality Breakfast this year featured Dr Shirin Ebadi. It was held at 07:00 hrs at the Hyatt Regency downtown Vancouver. I was amazed at how quickly I was able to get downtown. I traveled from my mom's house in West Vancouver and was there in less than 10 minutes. What a difference 1 hour makes!!! The Breakfast had ov ...

Ballet BC

March 7th, 2008
Attended a Ballet BC fundraiser at Buschlen Mowatt Galleries on West Georgia last night. With only 150 people in attendance, it made for a most intimate venue. The artwork was most impactful and there were several pieces I would have loved to have taken home with me. My daughter Martina and her friend Britney came along as well. Ballet BC performed 2 short works and the hors d'oeuvres and win ...

Google 2 Go This is a great freebie that I read on Medjet Assist's newsletter & have copied for you Let’s face it, not everyone has an iPhone or even a smart phone for that matter. There are plenty of folks actually who do not. Actually there are more travelers who don’t than who do. So why should the traveling masses have to go without the ability to Google a restaurant or hotel’s ...

Government Savings Plan

February 28th, 2008
The new "tax free savings plan" is a bit of a joke. With interest rates low ... 3.25% about as high as you will get on a GIC, this equates to under $200.00 per year in interest that this new savings plan will allow to be saved "tax free". For most people I feel it would be smarter (provided they have that $5,000.00) to make a lump sum payment against one's mortgage. It irks me t ...

Once a year we have a luncheon to celebrate the top producers in the office This year we went to The Hart House at Burnaby's Deer Lake.
