Outward-Bound fundraiser
I attended a fundraiser for Outward Bound this weekend. It was a swing dance in memory of Neil Falkner who died in a avalanche doing what he loved...skiing. The venue was perfect for this as it had a great dance floor for all the swing dancers...professional & amature alike. I loved Neil's sister Lucy doing her performance in memory of her brother. What a fabulous dancer & what a great way to remember one's brother than to put your body in motion & celebrate his life in dance. The silent auction had lots of interesting items like piano tuning, Whistler ski passes & computer tutorials. I was the lucky recipient to win the computer class. Claire Robson was the MC & did a great job. The live band & disc jockey were both excellent & kept the dancers strutting their stuff til late into the night.
This is a yearly event I love to go to. The money raised goes to sending a East Vancouver student to a 21 day life changing exerience where s/he learns team work & many other valuable life skills . As well I always have so much fun so I will save some money this year to put towards the 2013 Neil Falkner Fundraiser. I would encourage anoyone else interested in supporting youth tis way to og to Neil's web site & come to next years fundraiser
