Skylight Options
Sometimes opportunity knocks.
I have always disliked my dark hallway, so kept the lights on to alleviate this problem. 11 years into this home, and a new roof looming, I did some investigation and came up with the perfect solution. I did not want a skylight ... that seemed too overpowering for a hall. . What I decided on is a sun tunnel by Velux - www.velux.com Installed it looks like a light fixture inside and on the roof it is a 20-inch bubble. It's discreet, unobtrusive and brings in LOTS of light into a formerly long dark corridor. At a cost of under $400.00, this solution was money well spent. I'm very happy with the amount of light and the aesthetics of this fixture.
Now I can leave the hallway lights off during the day and let the light shine through my sun tunnel.
