Commercial Drive Event

Last Sunday was car free day on The Drive. This happens once every year. The 5 block strip on Commercial Street is closed off to cars & opened up for the people to take over. The street was packed with curious Vancouverites anxious to dance on the street, celebrate diversity & listen to protesters. I always enjoy this day. There are bands, jugglers, barbeques & great food samples from the ethnically rich restaurants on this strip. The costumes & attire are so varied. Everything from vintage full length dresses to velvet kilts. Lots of activities as well from double dutch skipping to face painting to henna tattos. I particularly enjoyed Brian Michael Nelson reading to me ...yes me personally a exerpt from his Flight of Souls. So today as I head off to the office I have visions of clowns & marching bands accomapning me echoing a magical day on The Drive. The creativity sparked within. I love Vancouver. Especially sunny days on The Drive. What a great Day!!!!!
