Google free cell service

Google 2 Go

This is a great freebie that I read on Medjet Assist's newsletter & have copied for you

Let’s face it, not everyone has an iPhone or even a smart phone for that matter. There are plenty of folks actually who do not. Actually there are more travelers who don’t than who do. So why should the traveling masses have to go without the ability to Google a restaurant or hotel’s information from the accessibility of their cell phone?

Well they don’t actually. Google has a new product called Goog411 and it is pretty cool, not to mention totally free. Goog411 is a toll-free service that you can call for free phone listings and company addresses. You simply dial 1-800-GOOG411 or 1-800-466-4411, for those of you who don’t like to spell on your keypads, and presto you are Googling.

Once you are on the system you give the prompter the city and state. From there you can start searching by either company name or by category. If you search by category you get the “top results” which I have a feeling are paid for thus how this system is free to the user. Once you have chosen a company you can be directly connected, given details like address and phone number over the phone or you can have the information sent to you as a text message.

Speaking of text messaging and Google, those of you who hate talking on the phone can just send a text message to Google (400453) and get phone numbers and more. Yep, and more, meaning directions, addresses, even definitions of words. Of course here your provider’s standard text messaging applies but you pay nothing for the Google service. Say you need the definition of the word, indelible. Simply text Google and in the message area type, “Define: indelible.” In moments you will get a text back that has the answer to your question and you will instantly be permanently hooked on this cool service
