Whistler's Olympic ski sites

  Callahan Valley

Here is a picture looking out to one of  the 2010 Whistler Olympic ski venues in Callahan Valley where the cross country skiing and ski jumping will be held. The ski jumping, or more precisely named by the participants, as fliers, not jumpers is up and running. It's amazing to watch the athletes train, and, yes they do fly through the air. One can not even hope to get a sense of this event until you watch how far they fly off the jump. It really takes your breath away! I have been to other jump sites, like the one in Oslo Norway in the 70's, but this was the 1st time I have been on site watching the athletes literally fly through the air. This definitely will be one of the Olympic ski events I will try to get tickets for but in the mean time hanging out watching is lots of fun!
