Title Transfer

In real estate transactions, assets such as property are often transferred into an adult child’s name when grandpa or grandma dies. I just had a conversation with a Coquitlam client who underscored the importance of seeking legal advice to time this so as to reduce the impact of capital gains, property transfer and probate taxes. With lots of do it yourself kits out there, people often try to save $$$ by processing these papers without consulting a lawyer who in their daily business can make recommendations that can save an executor of an estate thousands of dollars. Always best to spend that $100.00 or so on a consultation with an expert before assessing whether or not to go blindly into unknown and unfamiliar territory.
